Reach UP, reach IN, reach OUT for the glory of God!

Student Ministries (A.A.Y.)

The Awesome Antioch Youth Group or the A.A.Y. is a ministry for students in 6th-12th grade. We meet every Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. with great food, games and activities, current worship songs, and is always wrapped up with a message relevant to teens today! The A.A.Y. is focused on group togetherness and we encourage our group to think of each other as a family, always being there for each other! We are always looking for new members to join our small (but growing) family!  The A.A.Y. is all about growing closer to God while having fun and growing closer to one another at the same time! In addition to our regular Sunday night activities, the A.A.Y. also goes on an annual summer work trip and a fall retreat.

Recently, Michael and I discussed upcoming summer events with the youth, and I wanted to keep you all in the loop about what we are planning. I have attached a schedule to this email that you can save on your phone. I will be posting the schedule on social media as well.

1) We did not have youth meeting on Mother's Day and we will also not have AAY on June 20th in honor of Father's Day. Additionally, we will not have youth on the fourth of July.

2) This summer we are going to start "Youth take-over nights". Youth members will have the opportunity to sign up to lead a youth meeting with
supervision of the youth directors. This is an opportunity for students to get out of their comfort zone and take on leadership in the youth ministry/church.

3) The last Sunday of May (the 30th) we will have a Summer Bash to celebrate the end of the school year. It will be during the normal hours of
youth group. Please make sure that your youth wears clothing that they can get wet/messy in. A towel and change of clothes is highly recommended to bring as well.

4) Our church is having their annual 4th of July celebration this summer and the youth want to contribute to that event by either having a
pie-in-the-face or another fun activity to promote our youth group and receive donations. The church will announce the date for that celebration
in the next week or so. More information about that will be posted and sent home with the youth.

5) This year we want to give the youth an experience similar to a retreat/work trip but take into consideration the state of the pandemic and
being as safe as possible. We want to have a youth weekend retreat that is located at the church, and will be two nights long. We have thoroughly planned out precautions to make this event work. As of now, our plan is to have this event be from 5pm on the 30th of July until 10 am on the 1st of August. We will have a permission slip and informational packet available by the beginning of June!

Michael and I have loved having each and every one of your teens in AAY and we are very excited for our upcoming events! Don't hesitate to contact one of us for any questions you have.

Thank you,
Sarah Cawley
