2017 Missouri Flood Relief update...

Missouri has experienced flood damage in multiple parts of the state with anticipated impact still to come as rivers continue to crest. Missouri state officials are asking that United Methodist churches not send volunteers at this time due to high water and road closures. Missouri United Methodist Disaster Response is in contact with Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster and Missouri State Emergency Management Agency.

United Methodist Church on Relief (UMCOR) is also keeping a close eye on the situation and is in touch with Missy Lindner, the Disaster Response Coordinator. Please pay attention to local requests for volunteers by county and city/town officials. That is the best and safest way for immediate service. The UMC Disaster Response Facebook page will help share these local requests: https://www.facebook.com/umcdisaster/

You can help financially by sending checks to the Annual Conference with the designation of "disaster relief". All giving for flood relief will be used through our general disaster relief fund. This will give us the flexibility to use any funds remaining for future disasters. Make checks payable to: Missouri Annual Conference (memo: Mo Disaster Response) and mail to Missouri Annual Conference, 3601 Amron Ct. Columbia, MO 65202.

Or you can give online by logging on to the Missouri Conference Disaster Response website: http://www.umcdisaster.org/current-projects.html

Please continue to pray for the people of flood-affected areas and for the lives lost due to the rising water.

Four Antioch members delivered the many gifts and groceries to our three adopted families on Monday December 19th, 2016 and the families were absolutely overwhelmed with happiness and gratitude, especially the children. Two boys danced around in the snow, absolutely giddy with excitement, one little girl's jaw just dropped in shock over all of the wrapped presents and food that we delivered, and it's all because of the extravagant generosity of our members! Wow! Thank you Lord! Great job, Team Antioch!

Last December, we collected 33 Winter Coats for Crosslines, and we assembled and delivered 78 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to bless children around the world, in Jesus' name. Team Antioch, ooRAH!!!

We served food to the homeless of Springfield at Victory Mission on Saturday December 3rd at 5:30 to 6:30.

Did you know that The United Methodist Church has a worldwide mission relief team?  It's called The United Methodist Committee on Relief, or UMCOR, and it goes to people in crisis and helps them in ways that meets the community's needs. Recently UMCOR collaborated with American Near East Refugee Aid (Anera) and helped build a safe, sanitary, healthy learning environment for the preschoolers in refugee camps in the country of Lebanon. The story is amazing! Read more (http://www.umcgiving.org/impact-articles/preschools-refurbished-for-syrian-refugee-children)
